Backing Beaman’s Rights to Sue for Wrongful Conviction
RSHC Partner Ron Safer, one of Alan Beaman’s attorneys from Northwestern University’s Center on Wrongful Convictions, along with eleven other former federal prosecutors back his efforts to sue former Normal police officers.
Alan Beaman was wrongfully convicted of murder in 1995 despite the lack of any direct evidence of his guilt and sentenced to 50 years in prison. In 2009, after serving 13 years in prison, prosecutors dropped all charges against Alan Beaman. Ron Safer has participated pro bono in the exoneration of Alan Beaman and several other individuals who have been wrongfully convicted and imprisoned.
